Today is INDEPENDENCE DAY . The country is all set to celebrate the day with pomp and grandeur. Tricolour decorations take over the nook and corner of the country . Once again the office , school, clubs , building are decorated with tri color ballons and plastic buntings! Wait a minute ! Are these decoration sustainable?

NOOOOOOOO!

Balloons Are non recyclable . These balloons end up hanging on trees, landfills and oceans killing birds , animals and marine ! Balloons often endup as microplastic and make way into our oceans, soil , the stomach of wildlife and also the food we eat

The Pride of being Indian , does not exist in plastic Flags, ballon decoration, plastic buntings and high volume speakers . This INDEPENDENCE DAY, lets together Celebrate FREEDOM with #sustainable practices . Plant a Tree, Pickup trash , clean your neighborhood, conserve water, catch the rain , conserve fuel. BE A SUSTAINABLE INDIAN

Not all balloons are recyclable. Recycling centers do not accept balloons, mainly because their recycled form has no use in the market. For example, manufacturers make hot air balloons from nylon materials that are not recyclable for better use
